Decor tips for you bedroom!!

A bedroom should be a personal getaway, a sanctuary, which expresses your favorite colors, feelings, and collections. Learn the main rules to remember when decorating your bedroom.

Choose Subtle Color
Instead of bold primary colors, choose soothing shades and a restful palate of monochromatic tones. Remember color theory: gentle hues of blue, lavender, or green are considered calm and serene. Rich jewel-toned hues help set the mood of coziness and comfort. These might include toasty browns, deep pomegranate, or topaz. Use toned-down versions of your favorite colors in the bedroom." That might mean choosing mauve instead of eggplant, or pumpkin instead of tangerine.

Don't Overlook the Ceiling
The ceiling is a fifth wall in a room. When you lie in bed, do you see a bland, blank surface? Add a subtle pattern or soft color. Paint the ceiling a slightly lighter version of the wall color. This will help to visually lower the ceiling and give the space a feeling of comfort and intimacy.
Other solutions would be to stencil or wallpaper the ceiling, add architectural elements in the form of beams or moldings or use a decorative paint treatment. For ultimate luxury, silver-leafed bedroom ceilings, a canopy or tented bed with dressing that hangs from the ceiling can envelope you in sensuality and warmth while adding texture, design, and color to the ceiling. Add a molded medallion and chandelier of crystal or delicate shades bringing color, pattern and texture to the "fifth wall" above you.

Keep the Bedroom Simple
A bedroom should look cozy and simple, sophisticated, and elegant, regardless of what style of decorating you choose. For ease of movement, leave a minimum of three feet between the bed and side walls or large pieces of furniture and at least two feet between the bed and low furniture like tables and dressers. If you have to walk around the bed to get from the closet to the bathroom, think how you can move the bed.
Furnish your bedroom with only what you need. A bed, a bedside table or two, a dresser, and chair are necessities. Anything else is clutter. If you have room, place a chest of drawers in the closet.

Accessories should be kept at a minimum. Choose a beautiful piece of artwork, arrange some family photos, add flowers and candles, and leave it alone

Choose the Right Size Furniture
When you're ready to buy bedroom furniture, start out with a floor plan and a measured drawing of the space. Furniture should fit the room it lives and this is particularly true for bedroom furniture. Don't choose a heavy, large bed and dresser for a small bedroom. If the ceiling is high, a tall headboard will help to visibly bring it down to size.
If your bedroom is large, choose furniture that fits it, too. Add a chair and ottoman or place a piece of furniture at the end of the bed. Furniture and accessories that are too small will look lost in a large room.

Have Plenty of Storage
To add to the serene feeling of a bedroom, store things out of sight. The room will appear more calm and roomy.

Choose a roomy bedside table with drawers or doors behind which you can hide books, lotion, and reading glasses within reach but out of sight. For more storage, choose a skirted table or a small dresser with drawers.
Use a trunk or a storage bench at the foot of the bed to store extra sheets, blankets, and pillows.
For easily-reachable books and accessories, use a headboard with built-in shelves or sliding panels.
A custom-designed organization system can make maximum use of closet space.
Place shallow boxes underneath the bed hiding them with a beautiful bed skirt.
Include a Private Nook
Give yourself a special gift with a quiet place to sit and read. Create an intimate reading or lounging area with a comfortable chair and foot stool at the end of your bed or in a corner.
If you have room, build a window seat under the bedroom window. Enjoy the view and the natural light.

Indulge in Luxurious Linens
Outfit your bedroom with beautiful and luxurious fabrics. There's nothing that adds comfort to a bedroom like beautiful linens. Don't buy sheets that are less than 100 percent cotton or linen with high thread counts of 350 or more. For sheets that feel like they came from a 5-star hotel, send them to the dry cleaner for professional washing and pressing, which doesn't cost much, but creates a crisp smoothness worthy of the Ritz.

Add other sensual feeling fabrics through the bedroom with a soft mohair or cashmere throw on the arm of a reading chair, cover the walls with silk or textured wall coverings, hang silk draperies or a silk bed canopy, or add plush floor coverings.

Cover the Windows
A beautifully dressed window will help to frame the window and the view and provide other ways to add color, pattern, texture, and softness to a bedroom. If you love soft sheer curtains that filter light, combine opaque roller blinds that can be pulled down to maintain privacy at night and to block morning light.
For all draperies, include opaque blinds or drapery lining to keep out the sun when you want to sleep late.

Include Several Lighting Options
In a bedroom, it's good to "layer" your lighting throughout the room. Ambient lighting light the whole room, small lamps can focus light for reading and other activities, and accent light helps to wash the walls in soft illumination.
To focus reading light where you need it, use a bedside lamp with a movable arm. Each light should be adjustable with a dimmer. Install a separate on/off switch for each light so that you can be selective and light only the area you want.

7 Best decor tips for your living room!!

1. Decorate with mirrors

Designers often place mirrors strategically in small places in order to make them feel larger. One of the most common small living room ideas is to hang a large mirror in a central location to create a focal point. To reflect light and add a nice ambiance, put it behind a light source such as a candle or pendant lamp. If possible, position a mirror across from your window so it will reflect the view and give the illusion of another window.

2. Draw the Eye Upward

A room has a vertical dimension as well as a horizontal one. If your living room has a high ceiling, make the most of the extra space by decorating it in a manner that draws the eye upward. Floor-to-ceiling drapes are a stylish way to accomplish this goal.Another idea is to fill the vertical space with a menagerie of small to a midsize artwork. This technique will make the room feel larger than it actually is because it invites the eye to roam beyond the eye-level horizontal space that may feel confined.
3. Use Neutral Colors for a Small Living Room

One of the most popular small living room ideas is the use of neutral colors on walls, floor, ceiling and furniture upholstery. A palette of off-whites or beiges will expand the space by appearing to push back the walls. Soft hues also tend to illuminate a room by reflecting light. In addition to enlarging an area, a neutral palette imparts instant sophistication and creates a calming environment.
4. Choose Furniture with a Lightweight Appearance

When you shop for furniture, consider its visual weight. This concept refers to the perceived heaviness of an object based on size, color, and design. Pick out pieces that have a lightweight appearance, as heavier ones will seem to constrict a space.
Opt for pale colors over darker ones, and select pieces that have legs while avoiding those that are boxy. Glass coffee or end tables will take up less visual space than wooden ones because you can see through them. Any furnishings that don’t obstruct views will make an area seem more open.
5. Select Small-Scale Furniture

A list of small living room ideas would not be complete without the recommendation to select furniture that won’t overpower the room or appear to dominate the space. A sofa with thin arms and a tightly upholstered back is preferable to one with substantial arms and a multi-cushion back.
If space is tight, you could do without a couch completely, either choosing a loveseat or opting to position four chairs around a coffee table. When picking out chairs, consider armless ones because they will take up less space than a model with arms.
6. Wall-to-wall carpet rugs

Wall-to-wall carpet isn’t nearly as popular as it used to be. These days it's been traded out in exchange for area rugs, particularly in the living room. Area rugs look great and are often more practical than broadloom, but if you're going to use them there are a few things you need to keep in mind.
7. Use of proper natural and manmade light

Living room lighting serves a dual purpose: it works as a light source, but also as a decorative accessory. It's important to have a variety of lighting that not just accommodates whatever events take place there, but also looks great in the space.

An easy DIY pom pom rug mat!!

I loved the idea of these do it yourself pom pom rug mats! It's super soft and comfortable and really easy to make!

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• yarn (Try to use different textures and thicknesses to add more variety to your rug, especially if your color scheme is fairly monochromatic like mine.)
• rug pad
• toilet paper tubes
• sharp scissors

HOW TO MAKE YOUR POM POM MAT:

1. Cut your rug pad into the size and shape you’d like your rug to be.

2. Make a boatload of pom poms.Make sure that you leave the “tails” of the yarn you’re tying around the pom pom yarn pretty long. These tails are what you’ll use to tie the pom poms to the rug pad.

3. Lay your pom poms out on the floor and admire how cool they’ll look together.

4. Make even more pom poms. Lay them out and admire some more.

5. When you’re starting to get close to having enough to cover your rug pad, begin tying them on using the “tails” from creating the pom poms. Place them fairly close together. Once you’ve tied some on, you can always go back and fill in any gaps if it’s not fluffing to your liking.

6.Trim off any wildly stray strands from your pom poms. And if you’d like, trim the tails on the backside of the rug.

7. Sink your feet, hands, heck even your elbow, into the heavenly bliss that is a pom pom rug.

8. What room in your house could use a little pom pom floor party? I hope you enjoy your rug.

There are a number of ways and shapes you could make this beautiful mat in! check out these pics for example

A cool DIY 3D geometric wall art for an empty boring wall!!

Supplies Needed:

 1. Wood circles sizes used are as follows: 4 in, 6.5 in, 8 in, and 10 inch. Similar wood circles can be found at craft stores as well.
2. Acrylic craft paint in several colors (up to five)
3. paint brushes
4. blue painter's tape
5. 1/2" thick dowel rods
6. Rotary tool or small saw (to cut the dowels)
7. Wood glue
8. Sheet of 1/8" - 1/4" hardboard or plywood
9. Hammer and nails
10. Saw tooth picture hanger

How-To:

1. Start by taping off various shapes on one of the wood circles. Be sure to press the tape down securely, especially at the edges, for a crisp line when finished.

2. Paint inside the taped off area, and allow to dry.

3. Remove painter's tape and begin the process again with another color. Or keep it simple, and use only one color. Or use three! Have fun with it.

4. Repeat this process for all of your circles in various sizes, and be sure to mix up the patterns and color combos.

5. Now, it's time to cut some dowels. Using a rotary tool or saw, cut various lengths from the dowels (I stuck to four different sizes for this project - one short, one medium-short, one medium, and one tall). The dowels will determine how far away each circle will rest from the main wood frame that everything is connected to. NOTE: I also attached several circles straight to the wood panel base, without any dowels, which gave me a fifth height.

6. Once the dowels have been cut, set aside and do a dry fit to roughly map out the positioning for where you want the painted circles to line up when everything comes together. Once you start putting everything together, this layout might change, but it's good to have a game plan when you get started.

7. With the design in place, it's time to start gluing the dowels to the back of each circle. Flip over all of your circles and using wood glue, attach a dowel to the center of each circle and let them dry according to the instructions on the glue bottle. Clamp if necessary for thirty minutes to an hour and do not stress joints for a full 24 hours. You can also use the painter's tape to hold things in place while the glue dries. NOTE: I selected the dowel heights at random, for the most part, making sure that no two circles next to each other would be at the same height.

8. Next attach a saw tooth hanger to the upper center of the hardboard or wood base. Flip over.

9. Now, that you have given the dowels enough time to fully dry and attach securely to the circles, you are ready to attach the dowels to the wood base with more wood glue. Additionally, nails can be hammered through the underside of the wood base and into the dowels for extra security. This helps keep the dowels in place while the glue is drying, in addition to extra security, but is not required.

9. Allow the entire piece to dry for a full 24 hours before hanging.

This was one of the easy DIYs for home decor, there are many more coming so stay tuned! :)

Why the name prismatic?

The name prismatic is taken by the idea of the natural white light (sunlight) falling on a simple glass prism and giving out seven beautiful colours!!
The lighting in a home changes the mood of a room just as it does the perceived size of a room. Placement and type are important aspects of interior design, and they work in conjunction with color selections, room size, availability of natural light and furniture selection. The elements that come together when the right lighting is achieved transform a room into a seamless combination of functionality and style.
The use of lighting can add to or subtract from the overall colors of a room or from only those surfaces the light is meant to enhance. Darker colors make a room feel smaller and cramped, while light-colored walls do the opposite.

Both natural and man-made lighting help with the illusion of space. For a darker room, find ways to bring in more full-spectrum natural light. If the room does not have sufficient lighting, it will feel cramped.Natural lighting is preferred above man-made lighting because it shows off colors better and adds to the visual space of a room by bouncing off reflective surfaces. Consider skylights or large windows if you want more natural light, or use sheer drapes and curtains to allow the maximum amount of light from your current windows.
One major role of natural lighting in the interior setting is functionality. Lighting needs to serve a purpose, or it simply wastes electricity.
